torn knee ligament question?
I’ve injured my knee (Right side of the knee) while playing soccer exactly one week ago. I’ve heard a poping sound, and felt to the ground. (Althought pain was minor) I was able to walk very awkwardly few minutes after. Next day my knee started to hurt but only while moving/walking. I’ve also noticed slight swelling. I’ve decided not to go to see my doctor unless it gets worst… I don’t really like doctors. After one week the pain is almost gone, It’s much better than let’s say 3 days ago, but I’m still limping and my knee is still blocked from full movement. Minor swelling is still visible. I wear elastic brace, I do strech my knee, and I’m trying to limit walking as much as I can. Can somobody please tell me, how long will it take to heal my knee? Also do I have to visit the doctor and go through the whole process of MRI, X-rays, surgery etc. even when I feel that my knee is getting better?
The area your describing could be the lateral collateral lignment (LCL) which connects the femur on the upper leg and the fibula on the lower leg. You could have caused damage to the meniscus or cartilage, either way you need to get to your doctor. Any kind of pop or snap sound from the knee is not good. Hopefully you have been icing it. Don’t stretch it, if there is any swelling your risking a greater chance of tearing what might be a low grade strain.
